First trip to Ashton Gardens!

My cousin and I ran the Provo City Half Marathon. After showering and such, a group of us went to Thanksgiving Point. Our main focus was the Ashton Gardens tulip festival. It was pretty hot out. And it was amazing!

But first we’ve got to earn it.
With the half marathon done, it’s time to take our sore bodies around Ashton Gardens!
The landscaping was gorgeous. When I create my theme park, I want it to look like this.
The paper lanterns have a great aesthetic to them.
Look at all the pretty flowers.
A nice structure. This part of the gardens is very peaceful with the grass and all the nice smells.
I took lots of pictures like this, flowers with their signs in front
Here is a map of Ashton Gardens! I’m loving this place so far.
Even though the fountain was kinda dirty, I still was sorely tempted to get in it. It was a scorcher. We rested here for a bit, for which my butt was very grateful (lots of downhills that morning).
Can you imagine a coaster or a flume soaring through the center of something like that? Or those little fountains as a series of waterfalls on a rapids ride? That would be SO cool.
This one was nice too!
After touring the gardens, it was time to relax by the waterfall and check out the food trucks. FYI, these were here during the tulip festival, but not during my family’s July trip.
mmm, diabeeetus and double chins
This waterfall needs to be seen in person to do it justice. It is GLORIOUS

There are lots of nice places to sit at Ashton Gardens. If I had a membership I’d come here just to sketch and contemplate things.

After Ashton Gardens, we went to the free parts (i.e. the front) of the Museum of Ancient Life and the Butterfly Biosphere. After that, we got some Costa Vida and then it was time to return home and rest for the night.

EFF YEAH, SKELETON!
Did I buy it? No. Did I want to? Yes.
Time for the free part of the Butterfly Biosphere.
Which means no butterflies, but we did get a look into the greenhouse from the outside here. Stay tuned for my July report in which we did go in…
This was super gross. Ant colonies. They have a tunnel that goes through the exhibit and you can watch them fetch food and bring it back to the colony. It was cool. Still super gross though.
A gift from the kid in our party! She made it in the activities section which is free. I will keep it forever.

All in all, a very nice way to start off the month of May.
