The beginning of March 2021 had absolutely amazing weather. After another long and dark winter, it was an oasis. I suspect that this was the main factor that drove Lagoon to open a week early this year. Of course, I was super excited and immediately made plans to drive up.
March 20, however, was a freezing, rainy day, with the odd snowflake showing up here or there. That’s early spring in Utah for you. Regardless, opening was going forward anyway, so I drove up.
The drive up was sketchy, to say the least. I hydroplaned twice before deciding to get into the slow lane, and was immediately passed by a ridiculous amount of zooming cars.
Due to the rain, I didn’t make it to Lagoon until 10:15, so I didn’t get the opening ride on Cannibal that I was hoping for. However, I probably rode the 9th or 10th train, as it was my first destination after getting into the park.
After Spider I met up with Nathan, my friend from Theme Park Review. Wicked was closed for the day so we hit up Cannibal, Samurai, Colossus, and Roller Coaster. And I tried wearing my mask on Cannibal and Colossus in the rain because it was freezing, and because the rain would occasionally freeze and it felt like little needles puncturing my face. However, the mask was soaked and I accidentally inhaled it while traveling at 70 MPH. I’m pretty sure that that’s what waterboarding feels like. It is not a pleasant experience!
Nathan and I didn’t stay long due to the weather, plus I had a ton of homework. Regardless, we certainly started the 2021 theme park season with a bang! WINTER IS OVER!!!!
