Alex finally rides Free Fall! (Splash Summit trip, 6/26/2020)

For my second Splash Summit trip of the season, I decided to finally take on Free Fall. No more pansying out. I knew that if I didn’t do it, it would bother me. So I did it…and I loved it!

The main goal for this trip was to do ALL the body slides.

The lockers were actually working this time, which was fantastic. I wrote down the locker number using a laundry Sharpie.
There it is, looming in the distance: Free Fall. With today’s goal of riding all body slides.
I knew Best Lockers wouldn’t let me down.
First, it was time to warm up with Flash Flood. I rode both slides, but they weren’t blasting you with the tank water. So they were super slow today. Lame.
But still…So refreshing!
I haven’t gone on either of these slides yet. Next time!
After Flash Flood, I took on Jagged Edge! (The yellow one) I loved the airtime hills and did it multiple times! I went feet-first, no mat. Going headfirst down stuff like that makes me uncomfortable (although I imagine it would help with wedgies). I rode Jagged Edge a bunch of times, then Sky Breaker (the blue one). I haven’t been on Avalanche (mat racer) yet!

Jagged Edge and Sky Breaker both gave me MAJOR wedgies. Worth it though. That’s why you gotta wear those compression shorts.

And finally, it was time to take on Free Fall! I was quite scared, but I knew that I had to do it if I’m ever going to get on Summit Plummet one day. Unlike this random kid, I went feet-first.

Free Fall was fantastic. The most important thing is just to not think about it, and push yourself off! The water is quite vicious; it hurt my back just a little bit. But it was positively exhilarating. And not nearly as scary as I thought it would be — so it’s time to make this a regular slide!

Another, slightly different, view of the main slide tower.
I did not get the ice cream today, BUT I am planning on it sooner or later. I just need to lose about 10 pounds first!
After that, it was time for Rocky Mountain Beach! I wasn’t in there for long — I’m behind on some important stuff so gotta catch up — but wow it was fun. Towards the end it’s about 6 feet deep, so if you’re short like me, it’s time to swim. The waves were a lot of fun.
I probably won’t have time to go back today, and I won’t need a hand stamp since I have a season pass, but…why not? 😀
Peace out, Splash Summit. I love how close you are to my apartment. Next time, I need to ride Avalanche and all the tube slides I haven’t done yet!

I also wanted to add a few pictures of Splash Summit as seen from the Y. I took them about a week after this trip, when my family was in town.

When hiking the Y on a hot summer’s morning, the pools look sooo tempting…
Here is a good aerial view of the entire park! When I took it, their music was playing and it was almost opening time.

Overall, it was an excellent trip, and I was quite happy to have ridden both Jagged Edge and Free Fall, two new waterslide credits!
