Trip Report: Art Dye Park, 5/29/2020

After a rather anticlimactic trip to Rotary Park on Thursday, I decided to do something more exciting on Friday. Specifically, I was looking at Art Dye Park. The internet said that it was a disc golf park, but I have plenty of practice dodging flying Frisbees at SCERA park already, so that didn’t faze me.

And I had a blast!

I ate lunch at Beehive Field, a small baseball field with a playground. I found a little picnic table (not pictured) and got sprinkled on periodically. I hadn’t brought an umbrella, but the precipitation was pretty light, so I didn’t let it worry me much.

After eating lunch, I walked over to the main park. It was fantastic. There were tennis courts, fields, and trees. Stopped for a quick restroom trip and then again under a pavilion near the tennis courts when it started raining a bit more heavily. After waiting for a minute or two, the rain lessened, as it always does in Utah.

I’m curious as to where this path goes, but I didn’t get a chance to explore it yet.
You guys want some tennis?
It is a well-known fact that 45-50% of Utah Valley is perpetually “under construction”.

At long last, I found what I was looking for: a walking path! Hallelujah!

Looks like fun! Also, there are lots of great places to eat here, so I might come here on Monday!
Le path into the darkness…
Ah yes, some dude named Richard. What a good man.
The sounds of the city fade away very quickly. Of course, there’s more city on the other side of the hill, but it doesn’t feel like that.
I wonder where this goes, but I’m not going to find out because I’m not wearing my trail shoes.
I turned around here, mainly because my lunch break was almost over.
So beautiful. It feels like I’m in the rainforest, floating on a stream and looking up at the clouds. Of course, I’m actually in the high desert, and if I was in the rainforest I’d probably be getting eaten alive by mosquitoes and/or jaguars. Ah, but we can dream, can’t we?
Hey nerds, check out these awesome wooden steps. I have no idea where they go…
The return to civilization! After being approximately 0.25 miles away from it!
Looks like this is going to be pretty cool once it’s completed 30 years from now (considering how long Utah construction takes).

Overall, this was an excellent lunchtime excursion. I plan on going again, but getting further down the path, in the very near future!
