Trip Report: Lagoon Trail and Farmington Pond, 3/28/2020

Posted by

Time to take a step back in time! Since this blog is just starting out, lots of things will be out of order to begin with, but I expect this will happen less and less frequently in time.

I’m super excited for my report on my February Disneyland trip, though — that will be awesome.

Regardless!

Lagoon was supposed to open on March 28th of this year. We all know why this didn’t happen. Undaunted, I decided I was going to be near my beloved roller coasters even if I could not touch them (*sob*), so I dragged Andrew along with me to walk the Lagoon Trail up to Farmington Pond, then grab some shakes at Iceberg Drive Inn.

MFW the campground bathrooms are open even though the park and campground are closed. Thank goodness!
Ah yes, the Lagoon Trail. Best “urban” trail ever!
The bridge near the picnic pavilions.
Rattlesnake Rapids is empty, and it breaks my heart! I love this ride! But you know what I don’t love? Having to ride it with a bunch of strangers whenever I’m visiting solo. Or the fact that nobody wants to ride it with me even when I’m not solo, because after riding it you will be wet for the next six hours. A small price to pay for salvation.
After you pass through this thing, you will be on a semi-rural city street in Farmington. Do not despair; instead head downhill and you will see the Farmington River Trail after about a minute.
Ah yes, Farmington Pond. A stinky mud puddle to you and I. But to these ducks, a wonderful, stinky mud puddle.
View from the dock. Almost got snagged by an overenthusiastic fisherman.
Aww, look at the elk! They’re so cute. And so excited to see us! I’ve missed you guys!
The campground is empty, just like my soul.
Your speed is limited, just like your dreams.
And the rides are closed off, just like my heart. OH COLOSSUS I MISS YOU 🙁 🙁 🙁 Sooo close, yet so far away…
This trip gave me the source of this blog’s quintessential header photo.
Well Farmington, that was fun, but it’s time to pig out on an Iceberg milkshake like the fatass that I am. After all, if you are sad, just eat. It will make you feel better and also numb your emotions for a grand total of twenty minutes

Woohoo! I knew that I had to come to Farmington on the 28th no matter what happened. And honestly? I’m glad that I did. Lagoon is so close to my heart and soul and it truly is my happy place. Even to be near the rides is better than nothing at all. Seeing roller coasters after a long and dreary winter gives hope to the tired eyes!
